Auricularia mesenterica (Dicks.) Pers. Runzeliger Ohrpilz Auriculaire mésentérique, Auriculaire Fausse Trémelle, Tripe Fungus Fruit body disc-shaped at first then spreading laterally to form densely tiered gelatinous brackets 2–4cm wide; upper surface of bracket hairy, zoned greyish to grey-brown, paler at the lobed margin, lower surface reddish purple to dark purple with a white bloom, gelatinous and rubbery, coarsely and irregularly wrinkled. Spores white, subcylindrical to somewhat curved, 11–13×4–5µ. Habitat on stumps and logs of deciduous trees especially elm. Season all year. Common. Not edible. Found In Europe. |
